Just had an upsetting couple of hours and just having a cuppa to mull it over . Now I'm realising it could have been a far worse outcome.
I was in my lounge and I heard an awful thud . Looking out my window I saw the bus and a small child lying in front of it , I heard lots of screaming .
I went out and it was right in front of my house , the little boy had run out in front of the bus and been knocked down. His sisters and the bus driver were lifting him to the pavement outside my gate , they probably shouldn't have moved him but he was crying and apparently had attempted to stand up. I asked if an ambulance had been called , and it hadn't so the bus driver asked if I could , which I did . I then sat with the child until the ambulance arrived , I had a blanket for him which I fetched when I went for my phone.
The little lad only looked around 7 and was with his sisters who had ran across the road before him and he ran across not wanting to be left.
There was a lot of blood from a head wound . He will be ok but it's amazing how kids will just chance not looking properly , and it is awful how this busy road has no crossing at this end.

Oh how scary! Are you ok mamma?? It is awful, was there no parents around? Everytime we cross a road, I make my 7 & 4 year old check it is safe, even though I am there with them, I want it to become a habit with them. Can you write to the council about suggesting a crossing? Surely what has just happened more than highlights the need for one? x
O that must have been such a shock for you -amazing how you go into coping mode right away -then afterwards the shock sets in.
Take you time BM to relax and then maybe you could phone the hospital later to see how he is -hope he is OK.

Just as well you were there to take control.
(xx)))) Take care today xxx
oh big mamma must have upset you terrible .Do you know if the children are badly hurt. I hope not.
oh bigmamma, how absolutly awful. what a horrendous start to the morning . i would imagine you feel rather shaky and in shock.
At least the little boy is ok, that's the main thing. You know, seeing something like this is my worst nightmare. Not sure how i'd cope.
well done you, sending a big hug your way. x
OMG mamma.....it is a good thing you had your wits about you......because it sounds like no-one else did!! Maybe you need to start a campaign to get lights there. And the poor little fellow! could have been MUCH worse!! xx

Back again , sorry I haven't answered each one of you seperatly , just had a neighbour asking about what happened.
The poor bus driver was in shock bless him , it so wasn't his fault of -course but that wouldn't help his upset. The childs sisters were really upset and I asked if either parent were at home . Just before the ambulance turned up the father came and all he could do in his shock was tell the lad off for crossing there and not looking properly . There were lovely paramedics arrived and I just handed over and then asked if I was ok to go . There were 4 police cars arrived , and the bus drivers boss . The bus driver had sent all his passengers away after it happened.
I had the local paper interviewing me less than half an hour after the ambulance arrived. I didn't want to give my name though so I didn't.
I will pop round to the parents home later and enquire how he is .
Hope the wee boy is ok and you too, bigmamma. Take it easy today. It is a nasty shock but it sounds like you handled it well.

Will hold my little ones hands extra tight when we're out and about today.
oh no big ..hope the lad is ok ...must have been very upsetting for you hope your ok ...,my son is very bad on the rd he never looks properly im always telling him about it as it worrys me all the time ...xxxx
aaaw bless you mamma. you're such a good person.
its not nice when that sort of thing happens to children.

i make my children wait if a car wants to let us cross......i'm always signaling "no thankyou". even if its busy.

they think they're helping us but i think if you let your child cross in front of the car stopping for you its telling children its ok to cross in front of a car.

It could have been a whole lot worse. It was a good job he wasn't knocked out.
Your right he shouldn't have been moved incase of a neck injury.
Hope he's ok.
HI Momma and dris.
