When I saw that this question had "2 answers" I was expecting to find the first answer saying "3" from an idiot who had forgotten about Alaska and Hawaii, followed by a correction from someone else saying "5".  I did not expect to see an answer from someone who is clever enough to remember Hawaii but simultaneously idiotic enough to forget Hawaii.  I certainly didn't expect it to be the ultimate know-it-all himself!  :-)

When I typed my previous answer, I wasn't expecting to be idiotic enough to write "Hawaii" twice instead of writing "Alaska" the second time.
