Traveling to mexico

I want to book a holiday to cancun mexico next year and I heared that if you have a criminal conviction you have to declare it and apply for a visa.
Well I have a criminal conviction for drink driving and i was wondering if i still have to declare it because I think it is unfair that i have to apply for a visa which could be rejected, and it classed me in the same bracket of murderer, rapist and so on.
Please could you explain this to me!.

well, drunk drivers have been known to kill people, so perhaps that's why they're classified along with murderers. But where are you going from? If from Britain I don't think you'd need a visa.

You definitely don't need a visa normally, but what you're saying is that if you have a criminal conviction then you do. I'm sure there must be many people with convictions for drink driving who travel to Mexico, but to put your mind at rest, why don't you ring the Mexican embassy? [phone].

I think you are confusing Mexico and the USA.

Even there drunk driving does not require a visa - Canada is the only place I know of that would refuse you entry (and a visa) if they knew. I've never known them ask.

Not an answer to your question, but i would definately recommend going to 'Coco Bongo's' in Cancun for a night out. A definate experience not too be missed.
