Villagers from Hinton St George in Somerset have handed in a petition to 10 Downing Street about the closure of rural post offices. Chanting the village's 400-year-old "Punkie Night Song" which they sing in a candlelit procession every October to ward of evil spirits. Also equipped with mangle wurzels.
What a way to protest. Folk from Somerset certainly know how to apply the political pressure.

We did quite well years and years ago when the council was threatening to withdraw funds for music teaching at jno jnr's school - had the whole school band marching round and round the town hall playing their trumpets, like Joshua. The council backed down.
