kids books that make you cry

My brother and I were recommending children's book titles to each other (we work in different schools). We were laughing at how many of them make us fill up! Sometimes it's hard to read the last page to the children and I have to pass it over to another member of staff! It's much harder for him though, he has to read in front of the whole school as he's the Head! I offered: Are we nearly there yet? Sophie's web Supposing Busy busy busy Can you recommend any?

But his wise grandfather comes along and teaches him that he has to let go of the thing he loves the most - and so he lets the bird go, and as it flies away, I defy you not to shed a tear or two! It's great for showing younger children about dealing with contradictory feelings, and how our actions can affect the happiness of others. The pictures by Patrick Benson are fabulous too!
