Is this not Typical of Parliament ? Instead of talking together and trying to find an answer to Knife Crime all the politicians do is wage war with one another ,trying to score points. This adversarial type of Democracy has lost its way. It's not 'What's good for the Country' But ''What's good for the Party''.

I quite agree. But don't you think there are too many advisers each putting forward the course of action to take? The politician's head must be in a continual state of spin deciding on which route to take.

Wouldn't be much good if they all agreed straight away either. Is it scoring points or more like quite different stances. Tories want Jail Labour favour a softley softley approach.

Has to (and mus) be debated.

It's scoring points; Whoever heard of Tories voting against increased time for police to question Terrorist suspects-Until Labour suggested it ? Whatever one lot suggest -the other lot are against. It's Party before Country.

I made the following same point in a question below -

The problem with this adversarial type of politics , is that even if one party comes up with a good idea , the other sides cannot be seen to be agreeing with it , because as you said , it's all about scoring points

There are certain things to which there is NO solution and therefore are ideally suited to inter-party feuding. The most significant of these things are:

1) Knife crime
2) Gun crime
3) Use of handheld mobiles while driving
4) Motorcycles speeding

Partisanship is one of the worst aspects of British political system. Don't get me wrong - I'm not one who believes that politicians are pondlife, I do think there's a lot of well-meaning people in parliament, but it's a fact that our system is far too partisan.

You don't need to just look to parliament though - one thing you constantly get in elections is people voting for parties because of vague conceptions of what direction they look politically rather than actual policy. In fact I'd argue it's worse in the country at large. It's really infuriating.

You can see it in the daily press as well. Hence why I refuse to buy any British dailies.
