Just 10 mins ago, I parked in a bus stop (i know, i know!)to drop something off at a customer and came out to find two traffic wardens walking up to my car. I got in my car and then one warden started jotting down my tax disc number. I then drove off as he was taking a picture of the front of my car. No ticket was put on my car, but I'm not sure what the criteria is? What are the chances of getting a ticket??
I have tax, they write your tax number down to give you a ticket, yes, but i was driving off and so they haven't got a picture of me parked there only driving off (only my reg and tax number) and no picture of a ticket on my windscreen.
I parked illegally about a month or so ago and when I came back there was a warden talking on her walkie talkie.
I quickly got in my car and drove off but she had my number plate. I really thought I was gonna get a ticket through the post. She even said that it was a fixed penalty before I drove off.
It's now a month or more on and haven't had anything in the post. That was a very lucky escape.
The only picture the guy might have is me in the car from the front, indicating to drive off. How will they know it is stationary (i know it sounds silly). He will not have any other photo because I drove around him as he tried to stand in front of my car to take a picture!
Surely I can say I was unloading (which I was and have delivery note to prove it) if a ticket does come through anyway. I just thought they have to have visual evidence of a ticket on the windscreen, photo of parking bay with restrictions with my car in vision.
I have had about 5 tickets in my life but this is the first one I will be challenging if I get one that is!
As one reader pointed out. A warden MUST stick the ticket on the windcreen for a ticket to be valid. You can walk away even while they are writing. Most people are not aware of this and instead waste time by pleading with the warden
