Mine is - when shopping in the supermarket, always write a list beforehand and stick to it, do not get carried away by all the wonderful goodies on offer. If you didn't need it when you wrote the shopping list, you probably don't need it now.
When my sons were younger and things were tight. They would only eat Heinz beans and ketchup.
I used to refill the ketchup bottle with the value ketchup and I kept an old heinz bean tin but used the cheaper beans. What their eyes see is what they think they're getting!!!!
Buy cheap own brands where you can get away with it, washing powder/ as good as - tinned items ect..
Make use of your microwave more for really quick sweets, microwave sponge puddings, rice pudding using less energy than traditional methods.
A guy I know bought a 42 LCD tv in
Comet under 1/2 price ..the salesman
had to make a sale or he would be out
of a job ..he haggled ..I do it all the time ..
nothing ventured ..nothing gained ..
yes Max, i've don that many times. I've search online and saw a cheaper price. printed it off and took it to the store. get the item cheap and saved on shipping fees too.
always shop around when buying big ticketed items. you'll be amaze at the different prices you encounter.
dont fall to the trap where you have to pay extra
i.e. buy two for 30, or one for 16, Yes you save 2, Thats only if you need two. If you need one.. then just buy the one, then you would have saved 14!!!!!!
Yep.... fools the kids every time - nooooo you say to them, Council Pop is so much nicer with squash than that horrible cokey coley stuff, good thirst quenching stuff - and no nasty bubbles.... lol
Juggler - You're sounding so wholesome! lol!
My mum use to make us home made orang & lemon juice
cordial ! She also baked loads too! But of course she didn't work, she was a 'traditional' mum like they use to be years ago. Sadly, these days, there's not many can afford to stay at home & not work! I love to bake though when I have the time.
Rosetta your money saving ideas are bizarre. Buying a smaller kettle, less water?? why don't you just put enough water in for what you need each time. I only ever boil a cup full at a time. Also if you stand the kettle in the sun for sometime it warms up and takes less energy to boil.
YOU CANNOT FREEZE CAKE OR CHEESE. - this is dangerous.
Feeling cold in your house but worried about heating bills? option 1. jog on the spot for a few mins, this will warm u up, keep you fit and save on energy bills. Option 2. have a hairdryer to hand and give yourself a quick all over body blast. Instant heat at a fraction of the price of c.heating. When your childrens feet look like they are going to get bigger than yours bandage them up them you can continue to share shoes.. hehe.
boogie - I can't be bothered taking the lid off my kettle every time, would rather use a smaller one. Regards the freezing cake/ cheese, done this for years without coming to any harm whatsoever?
