Try www.lastminute.com  You can often get 3* or 4* hotels at very reasonable prices, often even cheaper than B&Bs.

BTW  Sometimes the later you leave it to book you can often get better deals. I got a single room in a 3* hotel in Bloomsbury for 29 including fried breakfast (price should have been 130).

but do they have sky telly?!
don't care about fried breakfast! sky telly?!!!!

Browse through there until you get a good deal and then give the hotel a ring.  They'll be able to tell you straight away whether they have Sky TV or not.

There may even be some pubs that show the whole Oscar ceremony, especially if they normally cater for ex-pats (American's etc.).  I do remember seeing some place last year showing it all.  You'll have to search on google.co.uk and query pubs/clubs showing Oscars or something like that.

many thanks for your answer kebabmeister -
my first hope IS to find some sort of 'event' in london - i do remember one year talk of a sports bar showing it - which would kinda make sense.. i'm hoping if i start early enough with my 'research', then i won't end up staring into space on the 27th! have been watching it from wherever i am in the world for the last 10 years or so, can't NOT watch it now just because bbc can't keep hold of it!!
cheers anyway - will definitely look on lastminute and do a google search - good plan!
cheers,

The trouble with this will be that, in my experience, most hotels who have Sky have only selected channels (Sky news, Eurosport etc. They don't have Sky Movies, tending to opt for some corporate pay-per-view movie channels.
