Things your mum always said

I was around at a friend's house this morning and she was telling her two little girls off for some misdemeanour - she said, "I don't have to explain myself. I said no."

As I curled up in stitches I realised that I could hear my mother saying exactly that !

What daft things can you remember your parent(s) telling you ?

I liked Les. My mate loved Eric and one day I decided to let her cut my hair like Eric's !! Big mistake ! She piled it high in a ponytail then just chopped the whole lot off so it was an inch long ! Then she decided it needed Brylcreme to make it spikey.........it didn't work !
I got into trouble that day !

Jillius - that made me laugh!! My daughter wanted to know why I was laughing and so I found a picture of The Bay City rollers and showed her and she thought it was hilarious!! My sisters favourite was Woody...I'm far too young to remember them properly....

I think I was too upset to retaliate lol. I thought I looked great and he disillusioned me !

My 14 year old daughter thinks it's hilarious that I could have liked them, let alone dress like them !
I met Les a few years ago and after 30 years I still realised why I liked him.

things i heard as a child were all stored away never to be recited until i was a mum myself.

Little CRX hates it when i ask him what time it is in the eve and then say "its time for the 'little CRX' bedtime show!!!!, starring - in order of disappearance - 'little CRX"

oh and it wasnt until 20 years after i last heard it that i finally realised, when saying it myself, what "arms up for bobby men" meant pmsl

Im now heading down the slippery slope towards the "you know what thought did............" phrases!

Oh and i have caught myself licking my thumb to wipe a mark off little CRXs chin!

Nothing can save me now :(

I didn't have a clue who the Queen of Sheba was so I couldn't reply.

My pet hate was 'pink to make the boys wink - blue to make the boys woo' at an age when I hated pink and the thought that boys might 'woo' repulsive - being a tomboy!!

Hey jillius, this a slight cheat as it was my Da , not Mum, But he actually said "If you knew as much about Maths as you do about The Bay City Rollers, you'd have no problem with your "o" levels!!
