If I was high risk at the age of 32 (1st pregnancy) and had an Amnio test (was all fine)....What are the chances of me being high risk now at 38. Will I be higher risk than before. I ask this as I am 10 wks & I am considering going for a nuchal scan & CVS with the risks involved. I have not yet had the blood test which give you your % for DS risk. Confused,,,,any advise thouhts welcome.

If going by your age alone then you are at high risk.

to get the most accurate risk then combined bloods and nuchal are best way.

at 34 i had age risk of 1 in 260 or something so i chose to get blood and scan done privately at a cost of 160. the results from that were about 1 in 4000. It gave me peace of mind and i would certainly do it again if i had another child.

if you want blood and scan done privately get booked soon as it needs to be done before 14 weeks.

i used this company who have their own labs. i had bloods done at my gp and posted to the lab, then had scan and i got my results same day http://www.babybond.com/

i was high risk with my first at the age of 27. like you i had the amnio and waited three weeks for the results.
all was fine.
then when i fell pregnant at 35 i thought i would definately be high risk.
thankfully i wasn't....and baby came two weeks early.
hope all goes ok for you hun.

ta all... will look into the babybond today. feel quite sick fretting as already had a miscarriage in Jan. X
find out via bloods and nuchal and then consider if you want a cvs (which carries some risk to baby, just as amnio does)

of course cvs or amnio are the only tests that will say if baby has downs or not though
i was just like you. i too had a miscarriage a month before falling pregnant again...unexpectantly.

i shouldn't have worried because everything went really well.
try not to worry too much.

this is a strange question but, is the pregnancy you have now feel different compared to the others?

Yes... it does feel dif... V constipated (lovely) on fybergel.
Extreemley tired & feel sick at lot more than I did ...but putting that down to being older & ...ahem dare I say it a bit more weightier & unfitter than I was. back then,.
i don't know about you but i was pregnant and miscarried the pregnancy didn't feel right from the start and i knew something was wrong.
getting pregnant after the miscarriage scared me but something told me "it was going to be ok"
i did worry and was besotted with the pregnancy.
i had a little show 8 weeks in but managed to get a scan only to show everything was ok.

could you ask your doctor for an early scan?

BTW try bran flakes for the constipation. also isn't constipation a good sign.
