Sandwhich cutting

Why do sandwhiches taste nicer when they are cut diagonally, as opposed to straight across the middle?

I know, they do! And when they are cut straight across the middle, I only like the 'rounded' halves of the bread, not the 'square' halves. Maybe that's why they are nicer, you get half of each on diagonal sarnies!

There's a scientific reason.

When you eat them - you invariably eat them from the corners. Corners can go to the back of your mouth if you eat to much so you subconciously eat a smaller bite so there's less in your mouth and more "air" to stimulate the taste buds.

If you eat a normal sandwich you eat into it, eating more with each bite, leaving less room for saliva and "air".

Or I could be talking rubbish - but that's my theory !!!

strange isnt it! I find carrots taste better when then are cut down the length (batons) rather than across the carrot (rounds)

I find that just cooking for a long time makes it lovely and tender. Get up early, pop it in the oven on 100dgs and leave it. !!
