Lieu pay.
I have worked on bank holidays for my employer for single time and lieu days instead of double time. Due to circumstances i now have to leave my job without being able to take the lieu hours i am owed.I asked my employer for the money that i would have been paid if i had worked the bank holidays for double time but he said he doesnt have to pay it and its my fault if i cant stay to take the owing hours off.Can he do this? It seems like stealing to me.

When one hands in one's notice, holiday is either taken during the notice period or paid up by the employer. I don't see how lieu days are any different. Since they won't pay you for the days, suggest to them your last day physically at work is therefore going to be some time before your final pay day and the end of your contract with them.
