Has anyone got the recipe for a boiled cake I used to make many years ago, it used to have a cup of tea in it syrup, mixed spice and bicarb. If anyone can help would they please also give me the ingredients and amounts. many thanks in advance

Not exactly the one you're after (I don't have the recipe for that although I remember making it in the past) but perhaps this one will do. I can assure you it's very nice. I sometimes add broken walnuts as well.
BOILED FRUIT CAKE

4ozs butter/marg
1 cup soft brown sugar
2 cups mixed fruit
2ozs glac� cherries
2ozs mixed peel
2ozs chopped mixed nuts
1 cup milk
2 cups SR flour, sifted
2 eggs
1-2 tsp mixed spice

Gas: 2 Elec: 300oF or 150oC

1. Place butter, sugar, fruit, milk, cherries, nuts & peel in a saucepan.

2. Bring to boil slowly & simmer for 3 minutes.

3. Leave to cool.

4. Add flour, eggs & spice, stirring until all ingredients are combined.

5. Pour into greased/papered cake tin, place in preheated oven and cook for 2 hours or until skewer placed in centre of cake comes away clean.
