1)make sure the wires are inserted corectly

2)make sure that the program is not muted

3)make sure system is not muted

4)make sure the volume is turned up

If this dont work move on to 5

5) SCREAM WILDY AND KICK THE SPEAKERS AS YOU RIP OUT ALL THE WIRES

( i cannot be held responsible for damage to your system, if any )

From Matt

Have you tried double-clicking the little loudspeaker icon near the clock at the bottom right hand side of the screen?

Make sure none of the faders are set at their minimum.

If not check all the cabling and power to your speakers.

Device manager will tell you if their is a problem if their is a yellow exclamation mark (!) next to your sound card. If there is no exclamation mark, it probably isn't a driver problem.
if you deleted something you shouldnt have, try using system restore.
