Jobs for Under 16's?

Hello, if anyone can help me i would appreciate it. I am looking for a job to raise funds to buy a laptop. My question is that can i legally work anyware? If so what kind of jobs can i expect? Thanks

If you're under school-leaving age, there are some jobs you're not allowed to do. There are also limits on the number of hours you can work per day and the actual hours you work. (e.g. you can't work before 7.00am or after 7.00pm.). The rules for 13 & 14-year olds are different for 15 year-olds (and also 16 year-olds before their school-leaving date). You also have to have a permit from your local eductation authority.

Most big companies (e.g. national chain stores) don't employ people under 16 years of age. Your best chance of finding a part-time job is with an independent trader (such as the owner of a local shop or a market trader). Unfortunately, these type of jobs are rarely advertised. All you can do is trawl around shops, market stalls and other businesses hoping that someone needs some extra help.

if you have completed your GCSE's you can work in some places. you can work for your parents (if they own a business) but only a select amount of hours a day. or a paperround

Garages quite often give saturday jobs usually about �40 just doing simple things like cleaning up, moving tyres e.t.c.

Or like Buenchico said independant shops are great, just ask around and DON'T GET A PAPER ROUND!!! Its slave labour. I mean come on one day off a year and only �10-�15 a week if your licky. It should be illegal!

I know what your saying James! My mate had a paper round for two years, and she used to earn �17 a week, and only got sunday off!
She recently change to where I work and became a waitress. She only works sundays and earn �25 for way less work. She says it's boring, but way better than a paper round.

I love my job, I work in the kitchen as a trainee chef and sometimes a glass collector. And when I'm coming home with �300 a month, I'm not exactly complaining!!!

Im 13, nd i gt a paper rand, i work Monday-saturdaii, from 6 am - 8 am and i have to fit in school as well, i get 28 quid a week i think thats good considering there are not many Jobs around for Under 16's

I used to do a paper round,
147 papers once a week for about 30 pounds a month.
It was a bit rubbish but it was good to have the extra money.

Most places have notice boards owned by the concil where you can put adverts for babysitting or whatever for free :)
It's good money.
