running cistern

I have a dual flush low level wc and at the moment i am having to leave the lid off as when it is on the cistern runs continuously after i have pressed either flush button. Can anyone advise me on what to do?

If the above doesn't fix it and you can turn the water to the cistern off, take the whole assembly out and take it to one of the bigger plumbing suppliers for a replacement. This is often a lot cheaperthan calling a plumber to fix it.
