Recording on Thompson DTR

I have been trying to record the current series of Grey's Anatomy on channel 5 using my Thompson DTR. For the last month or so every recording has corrupted and been deleted. Initially this caused the unit to freeze up and miss other programmes I had set up. The first time I had to unplug it to get any functionality back at all. Now it is auto deleting as soon as the programme finishes, leaving a message telling me what has happened. This only happens with this programme, I have been recording others from this channel and others OK

As you can imagine I was getting a bit upset about this until I realised that channel 5 started a web based service called Demand5 this month and surprise surprise each episode of Grey's Anatomy costs 99p to download.

Am I getting paranoid in my old age or is anyone else experiencing this.

Are you setting it to record individually or by 'series link'?

There are similar problems mentioned on this forum:

recording by series link. This seems a wide spread problem with all makes of DTR boxes and with all sorts of programmes. Mainly Ch 4 & 5 though. Still, apologies to 5 for any accusation of dirty tricks.

Will try now with single episode record.

Thanks again, Ethel
I helped someone else on this forum a week or so back with a question about a Thomson recorder (I dont think it has a "P" in it).

After searching the web I was amazed at how many people were complaining about their Thomson products and how many had taken them back to the shop.

I have got a feeling these are very poor quality products.

Now you tell me :-)

Check out the link Ethel gave above. Most of the problems there are reporting on other makes of receivers such as Sagem (although not exclusively). This is the only problem I have had with the Thom(p)son box and it may be the signal as much as the box. (the wife has, nevertheless, gone back to the trusty VHS to record Grey's Anatomy)

The jury, as they say, is still out.

As for the misspelling.......may be thats why i'm having problems finding it in search engines.
