A relative wh receives Income Support has been told by DSS that as he has savings of �3500. they are asuming an income of �2.00 a week. Any ideas where this comes from and is it right?

If the savings fall below �3250 your relative should inform the local Social Security office asap and his/her award will be reviewed. They may or may not ask what the money has been spent on if it goes all at once. This is because they can class it as "deprivation of capital" and if they think it's been spent frivilously they can still take in the full amount as if nothing has changed.
