Andy was robbed?

Havent really been watching it, but just watched the final i was reall difficult to decide between andy or liz!!!!

Nooooo... Liz was seriously good and a lot more creative than Andy... I thought his food was a tad boring ...

You have to look at the whole week not just the last meal they put together. Andy has been consistently better than the others. I agree Liz has improved the most but Andy has turned out fantastic looking food day after day. Just cos JohnToady doesn't like oysters with cream he voted for liz,

I'm a veggie too Richard and definitely was not tempted but that is slightly irrelevant here lol.....

I just thought that Andy's food seemed to be a bit boring whilst Liz's (is that grammatically correct lol....) was full of flavour... Of course we will never know because none of us actually tasted it ! Certainly until yesterday I thought that Andy was the better technical chef but Liz has really come on leaps and bounds.... I think that was how come she won - her ability to learn and move forward.

i'd have voted for andy, i think he's far and away the best, although i did feel they were going to go with liz because they kept going on about 'the journey' she's been on.

They were obviously going for Liz and I'm sure she deserved it but shouldn't she have covered her hair more especially in the professional kitchens.Or am I just jealous of long blonde hair LOL

ethandron, you have captured my point entirely. I agree they were always going to select Liz as the winner, and I also agree that she has improved and learnt the most during the competition, but the moment it becomes a personality test rather than a test of cooking ability I fear it demeans the validity of the show. Andy was the best chef.

I wanted Andy to win, because he was consistently the better chef. As you say, Liz was always gonna win - they had a soft spot for her. I did admire her though for her tenacity, but not for that damn fringe of hers - when she blinked, her hair moved!

Although Andy can't skate, he can certainly cook!!

What about poor Mark, nobodys mentioned him, he tried so hard.

I thought that Mark was going to win at one point. Really surprisd when Liz won, don't believe for a minute that she had never cooked before.What was the surprise in her beef wellington, does anybody know?

I agree with you tickled, I thought Mark was going to win, he wanted it so bad, but I think he blew it when he walked out of the restaurant. But well done Mark for coming back and even if he lost, he's still a good cook!

Sorry but Andy wasn't the best - when cooking for the Michelin Star Chefs, he cocked up his scones as well as one of the cakes. Liz didn't **** up at all - in fact one of the chef's joked that he'd offer her a job.

He was useless in Africa (yes, he may have been ill, but its still a competition - you don't see athletes compete and say: you weren't the best, but you were ill, so we'll let you win).

Don't get me wrong, he was good at other tasks, but I think Liz was more consistent.

Personally, I think he paid more service to the look of the dish that the taste until the last week.

i too wanted Andy to win.
He had aslo improved throughout the tasks, just like Liz.
(I can't believe she wasn't made to tie her hair back!)
Poor Andy had Malaria in Africa, yet he didn't walk out like Mark did under pressure.
As for his scones, he managed to work out a way to use them, and that egg custard alone should have earned him the trophy!
Although Liz was extremely good, I really do feel Andy was robbed.

Everybody is right in a way, but!
I was a steward on the African run, and the kitchens on board get very hot (this was in the time of non air conditioning), Andy would have failed in those conditions.

As for Mark (I was also a waiter in a London Restaurant), to walk out of a kitchen IS unforgivable, and to walk out on the chefs, it�s a wonder they didn�t say more, and he panicked at the drop of a hat, a failure.

Liz was consistent, and gave the judges what they wanted, �Someone, who would go on and improve�.

I will agree about her wearing a hat, Mark dripping sweat into the food, and Andy wiping his forehead with the kitchen cloth. I was also surprised at the footwear.

I also cannot understand all the serving staff, serving on the right. We were trained that serve food on the left and clear from the right, and serve drinks on the right.

Of course, it could be me. And things have changed. I am talking about the late 40s and 50s.

i was a silver service waitress 1rovert, in the eighties. We ALWAYS served from the left and took from the right (unless you were serving the wine).
I noticed it on those best of british programs, they served from both sides, and on the f word too. Amateurs!

I wanted Andi to win. I liked the way he took control when they were cooking for the army and I think he had the most difficult job there as well. But Liz has come from nowhere and has done brilliantly so hats off to her. I knew it was just between Andi and Liz when Mark walked out of the Chefs kitchen.

Well, I'm pleased i managed to get a bit of good natured debate going over the weekend. It is after all only a television show.

At least andi peter's doesn't a flagging career that needs a boost. Liz needs all teh help in that area she can get.
