I've got an old back boiler and am looking to replace this with a combi boiler. Am also looking to replace old Baxi gas fire with living flame one. I don't need new radiators. Does anyone have an idea of the likely cost? I have arranged to get a couple of quotes but as I have no idea of the going rate how do I know if I'm being ripped off?
I had a new combi boiler fitted, no radiators and it cost me almost 5,000 with British Gas. They threw in a "free" bathroom radiator and insulated my loft and walls for only 450 as part of the deal. I went with them as I felt it would be safer. After hearing of quotes for around 2,000 for a new boiler I wish I had taken a chance and gone with someone else. Didn't think at the time, but the boiler would after all have had a guarantee wouldn't it? Oh well a lesson for the future.
A British Gas service engineer who called at my house recently, told me that British Gas were the most expensive and that we would definitley get much cheaper deals elsewhere. It's just a case of weeding out the cowboys though!!!!
