I suppose it depends on what you were all doing. If she is off with some kind of injury and went dancing and the boss found out then she could be questioned on her return. I worked with a man who was off with an "ankle injury" and was in the local press getting the man of the match award in a cricket game.He got a severe warning.
I have given people final written warnings for being caught doing just this. But never dismissed anyone (yet).
I know at one time if you had a sick note from work you had to be home by 9 oclock. or something like that. Thing is if you are well enough to go out drinking then you are well enough to go to work,
Maybe that's a (bizarre) policy from an employer you worked for Lilac, but it's an urban myth and this is the law section.
There's no law on this, but treating your employer in this fashion may be construed as misconduct, and hence subject to disciplinary action. .........If you get caught.

thanks to you all!!! hope she doesnt lose her job over my birthday!!
As builders says, there is nothing specific.

If your friend was a scaffolder off 'sick' with a broken leg and turned up on crutches to have a pint with you, then their employer could have no problem with this, as the reason for being signed-off has nothing to do with fitness-to-drink, but the ability to do the work.

However, if your friend was, say, an office worker and signed-off with severe vomiting and diarrhoea, yet turned up in the pub and stayed drinking all night..... well, I still don't think their employer could go as far as dismissal, but your friend would certainly have blotted their copy-book......
Depending on what they are off sick for of course, other wise its got ****** all to do with them , she could claim that it is part of her rehabilitation , The doctor would advise them, she may not be fit for work , but she has to shop for food and eat and socialise,
