Why do so many people post here for crossword answers when there are several online sites that will supply the answers eg http://casr.adelaide.edu.au/craig/wow.html and http://www.a2zwordfinder.com/crossword.html

I disagree entirely. Many ABers enjoy crossword questions, including me. 

Not only do such questions give us a little daily challenge but when we answer, we like to give an explanation of how the answer is constructed (in the case of cryptic clues). So, it's a mutually beneficial thing.

Eer because it's a question and answer site? We could use another site or we could use this one. I expect lots of people use other ones, and I expect answerbankers use other ones as well as this one from time to time. Either way it's not a problem is it?

I know that the old adage "A question is only difficult if you don't know the answer" is true, but, as has already been pointed out, some of the questions posted on here are pathetic.    On the other hand, this is a site on which to find answers and, some of us enjoy the occasional challenge that some questions pose.

perhaps it's reassuring to know that somebody out there cares enough to spend time solving your problems even the answers are simple.!!

Because they don't know they exist.  On websites that catalogue other websites, The Answerbank comes under the category "Ask an Expert" and is said to feature weather, crosswords, puzzles and horoscopes (I kid you not � just google answerbank horoscope). Some questioners will come from those.  And since there are already crossword questions on AB, Googlers get steered here.  Neither way need the sites you gave get mentioned.  They're very good sites but they were new to me.

I enjoy tackling these individual clues.  If  I can solve them I get a buzz; if I can't, I don't get annoyed that I haven't managed to solve the puzzle.  On the other, German golfers and other sports questions leave me cold.  I just scroll past them � it takes all sorts.

I'm with you Marsh. There's just something about solving clues, isn't there? It's also educational. When you do discover an answer it's like 'Well, I never knew that'. I love this site. Keep those questions coming!
