What are the Best Scanners to Buy?

I'm looking to buy a a really good scanner.

I want to be able to scan CD covers, DVD covers and photographs.

What are the best scanners to buy?

What do I have to look for?

Where are the best places to get one at good prices?

What should I avoid?

Also, are the scanners I've listed below any good?

I would suggest a 'CanoScan 4400f'. However, you'll get get different opinions.

My friend who's an IT guy always says to get HP (as is Hewlett Packard, not hire purchase) for printing, scanning etc...

You may get some better responses posting in Technology though.

I use an HP Officejet 5510, 6 in 1. It scans, faxes, copies & prints. Bulky but cheap to maintain and easy to use, (also prints envelopes) and has phone & ansafone. Have had it 4 years with no trouble..............!

Cost about �200 at purchase.
