white meters (economy 7)
2 Answers
I have recently moved to a flat where there is a white meter (economy 7). I am registered to NPower. I have desperately tried to find out what the rates and times for the energy are but cannot find out. Has anyone else got Npower and this type of meter (living in Yorkshire).

I had a economy 7 meter in the house when I moved in, but no storage radiators or anything than ran at night, so we put timers on the washing machine and dishwasher so they came on after midnight, to get cheap electricity, we when on the web site uchange to find if we could get a cheaper supplier, which we did, and changed to npower. they took over the ordinary meter and the econ 7, and we continued getting two rates on our bill, one for day and one for night. For some reason I was reading the small print on the bill, and found that if you have economy 7 cheap night electric, they charge you more for your daytime electric! I did some calculations and found that we had been paying much more than if we were on just a standard tariff and no economy 7. I phoned them up and told them I did not want the economy 7 any more, just a normal standard rate and they put me straight over on to it.
I wonder just how much money they are making by people being on the two tariffs.
So I would just phone up your supplier, or find the cheapest one and phone them, they will be able to tell you about the meters in your house and who was supplying them.
