Old american tv series = help!

It's driving me crazy...I remember an old tv series and no one else can remember it! I would love to know the name! Basically the story was about a guy who could control his own breathing/heart rate/body at will and could pretend to be dead to fool the baddies! You would see inside his body and his heart slowing down and his blood moving around...sorry this sounds weird but I remember it! Help!
