In Heat (Pacino/De Niro), the gratey voiced guy that gives the slick tip off in the night club sounds like the gratey voiced guy that sings 'funky cold medina'. Are they the same guy?

Yes, the guy that played Richard in Heat, was Tone Loc, who did Funky Cold Medina. Well spotted!
