I've booked my mother on a flight to Guernsey using her middle name, Susan, by which she is known. But her passport is in her full name, Mary Susan. Is she going to be turned away at the check-in?
Probably - depends what airline and what the mood of the checkin girl is.....it clearly states 'name as per passport' when you book flights (or should do!)
Does she have some other form of ID that has her usual name on it rather than her full name? That would probably do it. (The passport is for security, not immigration.)
get in touch with the airline now, dont leave poor mum having to argue her case at the check in desk, you may have to pay to get it changed, but its worth it for peace of mind.Sometimes its cheaper to buy another ticket, its your mistake correct it now, if you do it over the phone ask for the person's name and get their extension number in case you have to refer at the airport. An iternational flight would definately refuse boarding.
