Non-domestic energy assessor career

I'm considering training to become an energy assessor because of the new requirements for non-domestic markets. Looks like a bit of a niche and there seem to be loads of jobs going, like here http://www.envos.co.uk/envos/contact-us-for-wo rk.html
Anyone else jumped on the bandwagon or, for that matter, know any good future employers?

I've been toying with the idea, especially if I could go self employed once qualified.

Do you have a relevent degree? I've got a HND in Construction so not sure if it's enough.

So what do energy assessors actually do?

They conduct surveys of buildings and rate their energy efficiency. For example, how efficiently the boiler and heating system is working, thermal values for walls and roofs etc.

Then they compile a report based on their findings.

Doesn't sound very exciting the way I've put it, but that's the basics!
