petrol smell

I have a fiat punto, sx60 , R Reg, and just lately when I am driving the smell of petrol is over powering,it's not exhaust fumes ,it is an actual petrol  smell.

 I have taken the car into a garage about this and couldn't find anything wrong with it.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

If you're sure it's petrol than you can ignore this, but I had a punto that had an overpowering smell like solvent and it was the air conditioning leaking coolant, even though I never used it. Obviously if you've not got air/con it couldn't be this, but if all else fails it might be worth checking.

You've a loose hose somewhere, or at worst a hole in the system.
