I have Googled (and read a previous reply on here) for a substitute for Cream of Tartar and am more bemused than ever. could someone tell me the approximate amount of baking powder I would need to substitute for one teaspoon of Cream of Tartar plus one teaspoon of Baking Soda in a recipe. For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Of course you already know that one mixes 2 parts cream of tartar with 1 part baking soda if you need baking powder. Then, when using this mixture as a substitute, triple the amount of baking soda to equal the amount of baking powder, but, when using Baking Powder always use exactly the same amount as the recipe requires... in your case 2 teaspoons. Expect a slight change to the flavor, but not drastically so...
