My brothers 5yr old bedlington terrier died suddenly today when having its hair clipped! We.re all in shock! Do you think he,s been that afraid that he,s had a heart attack? Do you doggy people know of this happening to other animals?
heart attack happened to a dog of mine when it was 7. started howling with its legs out stretched then died. it was my favorite dog. but we all gotta go sometime. if u want a decent answer describe how itdied. im sure all the people on here are that old that they have seen a fair few die
i.ll see my brother tomorow and find out the finer details. I do know that theyve been unsuccessful in the past getting toby clipped, they were going to see if he could be sedated, but i wont know the details until ive spoken to him!
It's horrible when a pet dies suddenly like that :( If you want a better chance at getting an answer you could send him for post-mortem examination. Your vet could either do it or recommend a specialist pathologist for you.
Ahh how awful, I have a bedlington terrier and he doesnt seem to mind being clipped, although he does mess the floor as soon as he gets in the dog parlour, so he must be nervous, really dont know what it could be, I hope you find the answer your looking for x
My daughter's dog collapsed and died when she went to kennels for the first time, she was only 4 and it was a horrible shock. I suppose sometimes they are so stressed that things like this happen. We never really found out what happened because they didn't want a post mortem, which I think they regret now. This happened a couple of years ago.
THANKS EVERYONE! just spoke to my brother, theyve only had him clipped once before and toby was afraid! this time they got him weighed at the vets and he was given some sedation tablets(acb). the clipping took almost 2 hours, toby vomited half way through, after the final bit of clipping he just went limp and his head flopped he.d died!
What a tragic story this is. Sorry I can't offer any more than my condolences.
I know it's not the same thing, but a friend of mine took her cat to the vet to have his teeth cleaned. Puss was healthy otherwise, he just needed his teeth cleaning. The poor puss never recovered from the anaesthetic. :o(
Was the sedative actually prescribed by the vet? If it was given by the groomer then they can be done for prescribing medicines whilst not being qualified.
