(2-part post):
I assume that you mean standing for election to the board of governors for a school. If so, you write (within reason!) whatever you think is likely to impress the people casting their votes.
Here's a (very) rough example, off the top of my head:
"In seeking election to the board of governors, I know that I will be taking on a very time-consuming task which requires a great deal of study of policy documents and relevant regulations. However, I believe that my experience in leading the team at Bogshire County Council's planning department equips me well for these aspects of the job. Additionally, my work as a youth club leader has given me an insight into the needs and concerns of young people.
I have two children already in the school. (My son is in year 8 and my oldest daughter in Year 10). My youngest daughter is due to join the school in one year's time. I recognise that the school has an excellent head and teaching team, who deserve the maximum support from the school's governors. If elected to the position of governor, I would hope to be able to regularly spend some time in the school, during the working day, so that I can learn more about the needs of the staff and pupils. However, I recognise that teachers are professionals who know far more about the day-to-day job than I could ever do. So, while seeking the knowledge to help me in my work as a governor, I would never try to interfere in the daily work of the school.

One of my main concerns about the running of all schools in this area is that 'political idealism' sometimes seems to take priority over the actual needs of the school. If elected, I would strive to ensure that my political beliefs were always subservient to the needs of the school and its staff.
I am a member of the school's Parent Teacher Association. If elected, I would seek to develop stronger links between the governors and the PTA"
As stated, that's very rough but I hope that it might point you in the right direction.
