Attempted murder by Dog

Yesterday afternoon my dog tried to kill me. I had left some meat out in the back of the stove to defrost. I thought it was far out of the dog's reach. At about noon I took the meat out and then made a sandwich for myself. I then retreated to the other end of the house to nap. At a bout 5 I went out to begin dinner and the house reeked of gas. The dog must have jumped up and hit the knob on the stove and turned on the gas. He did not light the flame but turned it just enough to have the gas pouring out. I of course opened up all the windows and doors and turned on the fan. What a mess that could have been!!! Soon my brother will be buying a house and taking HIS dog. I love the dog, but he is too big for our house and has become a little destructive.

a smart dog like that, you could teach him to play the piano and put him into vaudeville.

Hiya, What sort of dog is it then ? Perhaps the dog should be taken walkies to let off steam. I had a dog once and he was up to all kinds of mischief, he once came in dragging a cooked leg of lamb ( not ours ) he was also a very randy dog and made love to my mothers fur coat which had fallen off the coat hanger, she was not pleased. The funniest thing he did was when my mother in law was looking after hime, he ate 6 cream cakes and a pound of roast ham which was for her Sunday tea.

your story made me smile in memory of my lovely dog that I had untill last year. She was a nutcase not a nasty nutcase just daft as a brush. I came in from lunch with a friend one day and she had eaten a whole pound of jelly belly jelly beans that my mum had just brought me back from the states, had managed to open the biscuit barrel from off the side and eaten the lot and to cap it off had teamed up with her partner in crime (my friends new puppy) and had chewed the skirting board off the kitchen wall???? All because I went out for a few hours and they were not used to being left alone!
They were both well loved dogs that had plenty of excercise in the form on 2 long walks a day over to the river behind our house and were well too but I think dogs are just like mischevious little kids and like to try and push your buttons. Then when you go to tell them off they sulk and do that terrible sad thing with their eyes and you end up forgiving them lol. I loved my dog to pieces but I will not be getting another one now untill my kids have grown up I cant cope with 2 small kids and a dog high on jelly beans lol!!

He is big dog 111 lbs. The vet thinks he is a giden lab/rottweiler mix. My brother found him about 8 years ago and promised to find him a home. Ours! He only eats my nieces toys (jealousy) and will take my sisters flip flops and chew them too. She is now in what was my mom's room. We think the dog thinkks we did something to my mum. The vet wants him to go to a behaviorist. We are not shellling out money for a dog shrink or doggy prozac. :) The vet also felt that he was mourning my mom. That I can go along with. She was his primary care giver before she was ill and was so good with her as her health declined.
He is a lovable thing who thinks he is a lap dog. Actually the doctor asked my mom if we were hurting her b/c she had black and blues from him putting his front paws on her lap. She then brought a pic to show the doc the size of the dog.

He is hard to walk and we do let him run in the yard a bit each day. My brother never leash trained him properly and if we walk him it is like a cartoon with the owner flying behind the dog.

Blimey i can understand the walking problem thats a big dog!!! But I am sure she is lovely though sounds gorgeous! I had problems walking my dog and she was only a staffy but she was strong as anything! She used to love barbies heads and the heels of my boots but a dog gate did help with this depending on the layout of the house we used to let her have the run of the kitchen and dining room which went straight out into our garden. We put a dog gate on the dining room door so she could not have a run of the house and we could just leave the back door open as no one is even going to attempt to enter your garden if there is a dog trying to rip your leg off from the other side. She was soft as shi* but a great guard dog.
I do believe that she may be missing your mum though they are very very sensitive creatures and I dont think people realise this sometimes.

Good one slooowJo! (sorry was gone so long. Had to cook dinner.) Buster is a good guard dog. I also have a gate up to keep out of certain areas, but it leaves him very little space. I am hoping to have a new fence in by next week, so I can let him off the lead and really run a bit. (Then of course I will have "deposits" all over instead of one spot!) Like I sais, i do love him though.
