Looks like the Russians are starting to flex their muscles again - is this the re-advent of a superpower?

I think we'll see more of this as they try re-establish their dominance in the East, and in indirect response to the US missile shield in eastern Europe. Although the Chinese and Indians stay very quietly in the background when it comes to political superpowers.

well the Russians have been flying bombers all over the place this year. The RAF have been scrambled to intercept a number of times to make sure there was no incident. Putin is clearly out to shake things up a little as was demonstrated by his assistance to Iran with their nuclear "power" efforts earlier this year.
