bravery in the field

Hi again - I posted a question yesterday asking if anyone knew the criteria the issue of WWI medals for Bravery in Battle ...... got the title wrong - it was awarded for Bravery in the Field.

Can anyone shed any light?

It dies Ethel - thank you. Next step is to find the original of the photo which appeared in the press in June 1918 in which my relative is pictured having just received it - the newspaper cutting is so damaged I can't see him...... wish me luck!!
