Mornington Cresent, what are the rules?

Recently i heard about a game called Mornington Cresent, not a game i had ever heard of.
Can anyone explain the rules?
A friend said its about the London underground, but as for the rules he is as clueless as me.

After years of campagning they have now included Mornington Crescent in the Olympics.

The Olympics that opened today in China is the first one to feature it. Britain have sent a strong team and are expected to win gold.

The rules are far to complex to explain here, some say it is harder to learn than chess.
