China doesn't suddenly have an aids epidemic. It has been going on for years. The problem is that the chinese government actually denied that there was any aids amongst the chinese until relatively recently. They insist that it is a 'foreign disease' and it is difficult for them to officially accept that chinese people may be sleeping with foreigners on a casual basis
