POP3 settings for Virgin/Ntlworld
4 Answers
I'm trying to set up a pop3 account for Ntlworld which is now Virgin media on Outlook 2007. I have tested the settings and it will send mail fine but it comes up with a receive error:
Send test e-mail message: The server responded: 421 aamtaout04-winn.ispma
Anyone any ideas?
Thanks
Jo

Error 421 is a refused connection from an IP address outside the VM network.
smtp.ntlworld.com will only respond to a recognised VM IP. If you are trying to access the server from within the VM network then it is likely that your IP is in a newly released block, and they haven't correctly updated the access control lists to include the new block.
You could try calling VM tech support but the easiest and fastest way to get a fix would be to report it on the newsgroups on virginmedia.support.e-mail
Otherwise wait for the ACL to be updated.
