Hi all,

I have a week off work next week and could do with some extra money. Do you have any ideas on what I could do during that week to earn a little bit more money??
I cant really think of anything that I could do for 1 week only so any ideas would be gratefully received.

have you checked with your work that they mind, bearing in mind they will also be paying you for this holiday?
Also they might not want you to anything either in direct competition or tarnishing the name of your job.

you could try a n agency although they might not be interested if they know you wont be able to work beyond a week

bear in mind that you will pay a whopper of tax on a second job

Realistically, in order to be able to sort out tax etc in such a short time, you might need to look for cash in hand stuff. The only thing that springs to mind is either doing car boots, ebay, or door to door washing cars etc. If you have a skill (eg bricklaying) you might ask your family if any of them want you to do cash in hand stuff
The most sensible option (likely to get you maximum reward), is to ask your employer if you can work your holiday for them. They should pay you at least at your standard hourly rate, on top of your holiday pay.

Many firms offer the option to buy or sell holiday entitlement. It might be a very attractive proposition to your firm if they currently have a backlog of work.
Unfortunately if your holiday is due to the company closing for a week, this will not be an option.
Have a clear out and either flog the stuff at a car boot sale or on Ebay.
Lots of lawns need mowing.....windows need cleaning......cars need washing.......dog walking......child minding...neighbourhood shopping......cleaning......ironing.....decorating.....patio scrubbing.......general gardening.......washing corrugated plastic porches......cutting trees......errands.......sandwich making/selling......keeping elderly company......busking......fixing computers.......teaching IT (you know that by being on here).......set up websites......Make up a business program......stay on this site and fill it with jokes. That should keep you busy.
Your local pub might be grateful for a bit of help if you can't carry on at work for that week, but Mrs. O's idea is actually very good. You can make quite a lot of money at a car boot sale. My friend did one - her first ever - and made 175 in one day, selling nearly-new baby and toddler clothes.
