I asked them if someone could have a quick look at it - he came out to the car sat in the passenger seat, checked the yellow connectors - said theyre fine and it needed resetting. If the problem was still problem it would start to flash again. He reset it turning the ignition on and off a magical number of times and it didnt come back on.
The person who told you to disconnect these plugs must have been an enemy as if you and your front seat passenger would have had an accident the pre-tensioners wouldnt have gone off and the airbag could have killed you as you would have travelled forward too much. The pre-tensioners pull you deep down into your seat.

Tip 2
If you have tried the 2 connectors (1 under each seat)
And that did not cure it (it also did not for me)
So I tried swapping the 2 pretensioner units
This also made no difference
So I decided to find the controller unit so I could see if its connector was ok
But sadly its not shown were it fitted in the workshop repair book
So I went to the local scrappy and followed the looms
Found one with the seats removed this helped
Removed the carpet
The loom starts at the passenger seat (UK cars) goes over to the drivers seat (under the centre console) and joins the loom from the drivers seat
Then as a pair the run down the side of the sill towards the front of the car behind the kick panel (next to accelerator pedal) and up behind the dash
But heres the tip behind the kick panel is another plug and socket
Try cleaning that one it has now cured my flashing light
All the best

This is exactly right...I had the four flashes repeated on the airbag warning light on my 1996 Ford Escort, and I was convinced it was bust. But on checking the connections as mentioned above I found the pretensioner plug under the driver's seat was loose. A quick hard press home, and Bob's Your Uncle. Warning light has gone, fault cured. The Dog's ********.....thank you to previous posters who put me right.
