I agree with Steve, no, he wasn't a dictator, he had a firm belief in what he was doing and did it to the best of his ability. He tried very hard to save the Imperial Family, because he wanted a fair trial for the Tzar and I don't think he would have demanded anything more than 're-education' for the children.

lenin was a dictator because he was the leader of the bolshevisks that took power from the provincial government. The were an extremist group that wanted to take power.
