A couple of years back we still had our second brood around well into November. They have to fatten up and be strong enough to travel.

Thanks for that LoftieLottie. The reason I asked was because a saw quite a lot of martins resting on the telegraph wire. Its quite cool again today and it made me think it won't be long before they disappear again for another year.
We get mostly martins round here. I love swallows. We saw lots in Corfu in June. They seem to dive bomb the road a.nd skim it with only inches to spare.
I hope your second brood are doing well and fattening themselves up for the great journey.
