We had a very old Volvo - our first car - that had a hole in the petrol tank. You couldn't fill it more than half up or go round corners too quickly or it sloshed out. The next one had a dodgy immobilser and sometimes we had to sit in it for half an hour before it would start. Then thankfully my husband got a job with a company car.
