I recently had new windows and doors and foolishly invited one of the above named companies to come and quote .... after 3 hours I politely asked the saleswoman to leave - she was in serious mode and determined to get a sale - lots of rubbish like ringing her boss and *arranging* special deals etc etc... Their prices were like 5 times what a decent local company were charging, so the tack was, well, how much can you afford and that finance could be arranged !
After 4 hours, I just ignored her pitch and cooked my dinner, which I then proceeded to serve up and eat (just me... hehe) in front of her. Then, after eating my dinner, I stood up and said, "ok, you need to **** off now, I'm going out", raising my arm towards the front door. I wasn't even prepared by now to be remotely pleasant to her.
She left.
Phew... never again....
I think that a lot of the time, the poor sods receiving the quote are simply bamboozled into accepting stuff, just to get rid of the salesperson. This sort of practice should be banned in my opinion, it's disgusting behaviour and is why the double glazing industry has such a bad reputation !
Next time I want any new doors or windows, I will contact Wee Al !
