24 years of age. One previous police caution for a similar incident.

Long story short I caught a friend kissing my girlfriend and reacted in a violent manner towards my friend. The CCTV caught me doing this. The friend does not want to press charges and showed no sign of visible injury. No one was interviewed at the scene.

I cooperated fully with the police. Was interviewed and released with a court date on the 21st of this month at the magistrates court.

I am scared that I might be given a custodial sentence. The police officer said I would most likely just get a fine and maybe a community service order. Is anyone able to give me any advice about the most likely outcome. I cannot speak to a brief until monday.

I am deeply embarassed about my behaviour and am aware of just how stupid I have been.

Magistrates' guidelines suggest a "starting point" of a Community Order. So probably some unpaid work for you.
You won't go to priosn for this, in fact I'm amazed you didn't get a penalty notice for disorder to be honest!

Thank you for your answers. I have now hired a brief. His opinion is that I may get some unpaid work but once he has reviewed the cctv/interview he may argue it down to a fine.
