I think it is wine they do this for, but in Michigan where my friend lives. There is at least one farm that makes a pear wine or cider, the novelty to it is that they put bottles over the pears on the tree as they start to grow and the pears develop on the tree in the bottle. The trees are covered in these bottles all with a pear in each one.
Then they bottle the wine with the pear intact.

And your question is? Growing pears this way is nothing new, I seem to remember pear brandy being made this way. But if you ask a question we will try and answer it!

Sorry I upset you so much topogigo, but this is called answerbank!. I could spend days putting on this website information that I find fascinating, but I don't have the time nor the inclination to spread all the useless trivia I have in my head to the answerbank community!
