Can we bring food (peanuts) into France?

We are traveling to France and would like to take some packages of peanuts to give as gifts. Is there any restrictions about bring food prouducts into the country?

With the exception of a few temporary restrictions (e.g. relating to BSE), EU law permits the free movement of all goods (including foods) across national borders.

You'll have no trouble taking peanuts into France.

We are assuming the OP is in the UK - maybe they are in the USA (Georgia perhaps - home of the peanut?) and travelling to France? Would the same apply??

Thank you Zax47. We are indeed from Georgia, USA and we are known for our Peanuts and Peaches. We are getting promotional packages from the State of Georgia Peanut Commission. We didn't think it was that bad of an idea.
