My son is a DJ and wants to promote a night. How can he check that the name he wants to use is not trademarked and if not, how does he trademark it for himself?

Thanks for your answers. One of the problems that he has is that apparently the name is already being used but belongs to a DJ and not a night.He hadn't realised this until someone pointed out that the name was already in use.Can he still use it, even though the DJ doesn't belong in the U.K.?

Couldn't he possibly alter it to maybe spell it differently?
For example if the Dj was called DJ Dancenight, he could call his event, Danznite or similar?
