A recent incident prompted me to ask.I was on a busy dual carriageway with heavy traffic,a car was joining from a slip road I couldnt move over to let them on due to traffic
in the fast lane, or break due to cars behind me,or accelerate. This car kept at the same speed as I was doing side by side, indicating to pull on to the carriage way.She, it was a woman driver, sounded her horn as if I was in the wrong.Any comments?

It is up to the person joining the carriageway to adjust their speed and position to enable them to join.As for the person on the carriageway, any alteration of speed or position is a matter of courtesy unless avoiding action is necessary

All slip roads have a 1m long, 1m gap dotted line across them. This is a give way line. It is up to the joinng vehicle to adjust speed to join the main c'way safely....though by what I see every day, you would never believe it!!

...and, as with all Give Way lines, this adjustment of speed and position by traffic on the slip road may also include stopping if necessary before safely joining the main carriageway.

this happened to me too a while ago. I couldn't move over due to a car being at the side of me and the nice person driving the car wanting to join the road thought he would shout abuse. I just shouted alot more back. They are in the wrong, idiots!
